How I store my bookmarks

Bookmarks are great because 1. I don’t like dog-ears  2. I cannot remember where I stopped reading last time

So, to prevent the clumsy me from losing them, I grabbed a highlighter box that was lying around my house and store the bookmarks in it:

The size is p-e-r-f-e-c-t for bookmarks

It’s thin and light so I sticked it to the side of my bookshelf using some blue tack.

How do you guys store your bookmarks? Or do you use them?

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

Thank you Leannaatc and Kath for nominating me!

The Rules:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.

2. Put the award logo on your blog.

3. Answer the ten questions they’ve set you.

4. Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.

5. Nominate ten people.

Leannaatc’s questions:

If you had to choose between only ever reading a book once, or only being able to read the same ten books for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

Only reading a book once. I just can’t read the same ten books forever.

Thoughts on the Oxford comma?

I use it sometimes… Don’t really have any special thoughts on it though.

Explain the title of your blog.

Book – self explanatory; Olympus – I like mountains + Mt. Olympus was the home of the Twelve Olympus so Book Olympus is the home of books (kind of lame haha) + I love the PJO series!

Books: stand alone or series?

Definitely series! Stand alone is too short for me

You can change one thing about the world. What do you change?

Everyone on earth has his/her human rights. It’s the 21st century already and yet there’re a lot of people whose rights are not protected!

Which book are you most sentimental about?

The Book Thief

What’s your favourite colour?

Blue / Black. To be honest I’m pretty okay with all the colours 🙂

List three things you know to be true.

1. I’m constantly sleep deprived

2. I love sci-fi

3. I’d rather watch youtube than tv

You’re allowed to vacation in the setting of a book. Where do you go?

Saying ‘Hogwarts’ every time is kind of repetitive so I’d say New Beijing from the Lunar Chronicles. It wouldn’t be great if I ran into Levanna, but I’d love to see a world with androids and cyborgs and high-tech stuff in general.

Add “In Your Pants” to the end of the title of the last book you read. (For example, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire…in your pants)

Cress In Your Pants *(what? Haha)

Kath’s questions:

How many books have you read for this year? Choose your favorite one.

I haven’t read any yet since the start of 2015…

Paranormal or Mystery books? Why?

Most probably paranormal. Not a big fan of mystery – I guess I’m not really the detective kind of person.

Young Adult or New Adult? Why?

YA because I’m 15 right now and it’s easier to relate to the characters.

What is your favorite picture book?

I LOVED this comic series SO MUCH when I was small

Reading a Hardcover with or without dust jacket?

Of course I’d read it without the dust jacket. Dust jacket gets in the way when I’m reading and I don’t want to ruin it.

Stand alone with cliffhanger ending. Yay or nay?

NOOOO. NO. NO. NO. I want (need) the ending!!! If it’s a series then okay fine I can wait, but A STANDALONE? NO.

Favorite book line?

We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another.

Life. Changing. Quote.

Most annoying fictional character for you?

Juliette in Unravel Me (I heard that she gets less annoying in Ignite me though). She just gets so emotional it’s kind of irritating

What’s your most favorite season to read?

Summer! Mostly due to the fact that I have more free time for reading during the summer holiday.

Not book related.

I started this thing called ‘Don’t Break the Chain’ on the 5th of January but broke it by not exercising everyday (opps haha. But hey I did exercise during PE lessons!)

My 10 questions are:

  1. Favourite author? Why?
  2. Do you read ebooks?
  3. Do you review every book you’ve read?
  4. Do you listen to music while you’re reading?
  5. Your opinion on audiobooks?
  6. If you could be a character for one day, who would you be?
  7. If you could change the ending of a book, which one would you change?
  8. If an alien visited you and asked you to show it a book, which one would you choose?
  9. The best song for your favourite book?
  10. Favourite book-to-movie adaptation?

I’ll nominate 5 people:

Plans for 2015

New year, new start.

But before that, I have to take a moment and thank you all for your support! I know it sounds cheesy but it’s really great knowing that someone out there actually reads my posts (and that I’m not talking to myself haha). I’m glad that I joined the wonderful book blogging community and would never regret this decision.
Enough of this gibberish. Let’s dive straight into my plans for 2015 and what to expect.

1. I’ll be posting every Tuesday / Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
Tuesday / Wednesday will be dedicated to memes. I won’t be posting two memes every week though.

2. Beyond the Book post will be a monthly feature
Researching requires time so I’ll be doing that every month.

3. Mock exam in late March
I won’t be active in March (sorry!) I’ll be busy preparing for my mocks and doing past papers.

4. Study leave for a month and a half!
After my mocks I’ll have no school until the end of my IGCSEs exams (mid-June). I’m quite positive that I could squeeze in some time for blogging 🙂

5. I won’t be setting any reading goals
School is stressful enough and I don’t want to turn reading into a ‘liability’. I prefer reading whatever and whenever I want.

That’s pretty much it! I might change something throughout the year but we’ll see 😀

One Lovely Blog Award

Gwen & Kate’s Library and The Writing Hufflepuff nominated me for the One Lovely Blog Award! Thank you very much!

The requirements for the nomination:
1.) Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
2.) List the rules and display the award.
3.) Add 7 facts about yourself.
4.) Nominate 15 other bloggers (or as many as you can) and comment on one of their posts to let them know they have been nominated.
5.) Display the award logo and follow the blogger who nominated you.

7 facts about me:

1.  I love thunderstorms.
2.  I love the night. I wish I could go star gazing in Hong Kong. Light pollution ruins them all. *cries*
3.  I’m definitely not a morning person, but sometimes I’ll wake up at 4 instead of staying up late until 2 in the morning to do my work.
4.  My Mandarin sucks. I can read some simplified Chinese, but I can’t write them.
5.  Speaking of languages, I really don’t have a talent in learning them. I learned French for 3 years but I can barely speak it.
6.  I’m already running out of facts…
7.  I’m a Gemini! My birthday is in June which means I’ll be celebrating my birthday and my blogversary together (technically it’s not the same day but still…) The down side of having a birthday in June is that it’s finals week every year (almost). This year was the worst – I have Business Studies and History exams on the same day and even though I woke up at 2:30 am, I still could not finish revising them.
Good news! Next year I’ll finish my IGCSEs exams a few days before my birthday and I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO IT.

Phew! Here are 7 facts of me 😀 Now I’m going to nominate some bloggers:

The Liebster Award

The wonderful alwaysopinionatedgirl and thewritinghufflepuff  nominated me for The Liebster Award. Thank you very much!

1. Link & Thank the blogger who nominated you
2. Answer the 11 questions your nominator gives you
3. Tag 11 other bloggers who have 200 or less followers
4. Ask the 11 bloggers you nominated 11 questions and let them know you nominated them!

Answer the 11 questions your nominator gives you (I’m going to do thewritinghufflepuff’s as it’s more recent)

1. If you could live in any book, which one would you live in and why?

Of course I’d live in Harry Potter’s world. Lying in bed and go ‘accio phone, book and tea’ – perfect for lazy people like me. Oh and you got to go to Hogwarts.

2. If you could bring back one character back from the death, which one?

I’m Divergent and I can’t be controlled so I’m going to bring back three characters from death. Sirius Black, Tris Prior and Uriah Pedrad.

3. Have you ever met a favourite author? (if so, I am very jealous of you) What was it like?

Sadly, no D:

4. A song that fits your OTP so well it’s eery?

I have a lot of OTPs but I’ll choose FourTris this time. The song is ‘When you’re gone’ by Avril Lavigne.

5. You see one of your favourite authors walking down the street, what do you do?

Go and ask a signature from them 🙂

6. Have you ever written fan fiction or drawn fan art to express your love for a book?

I’ve drawn fan art! Check it out here

7. What is your favourite genre and why?

My favourite genre is dystopian (mixed with sci-fi) because I love how the characters are able to fight injustice and stand up for their beliefs. Also they kind of relate to the events happening in Hong Kong recently.

8. Is there a character that everyone hates but you love, or vice versa?

(I’m not sure if everyone loves Katniss) I don’t HATE Katniss, I just don’t like her as much as other people do. She is a too impulsive and stubborn.

9. Scariest villain?

Umbridge from the Harry Potter Series. No, not Voldy, not Bellatrix. Umbridge.

10. What would your Patronus be?

It would be an eagle.

11. A book you loved, but will probably never read again?

Woah. This is hard. Honestly I don’t have one.

1st of September: back to Hogwarts

Today’s the first day of school *sobs*.  To cheer myself up a bit, I decided to PRETEND that I’m going back to Hogwarts instead of a muggle school. So without further ado, let’s go to Diagon Alley!

Flourish and Blotts

I don’t normally do monthly TBR but I decided to do it for September. Just to plan things ahead so I won’t be that stressed 😛

September TBR:

+ 2 Chinese books

The Infinite Sea is coming out on the 16th and I’m REALLY EXCITED. Of course I have to re-read The 5th Wave first.

I can’t guarantee that I’ll finish all of them, but I’ll do my best.

Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions

You may notice that there are a couple of changes

1. I’ve changed my blog’s name and address from to

I understand the risks and downside of changing my blog address, but because I’m still new here and have been continuously blogging for only 2 months (!?), it’s okay for me 🙂

2. Autumn’s coming so I decided to design a new robe for my blog! It’s kind of a scarlet/maroon colour which is P-E-R-F-E-C-T for fall (oh and recently I have a weird obsession with scarlet so yeah.)

I drew the mountain and the bird! Pretty proud of it ;D

Amanuensis Quills
Some plans for the blog:

1. I’m launching a new feature called ‘Beyond the Book’! Here you’ll find interesting facts about a certain thing mentioned in a book. If you like science and philosophy stuff then you should definitely check it out!

2. After doing some maths with the amount of free time I have everyday, I’ve assigned 1 hour for blogging. Within the time limit I’ll be writing posts, visiting other blogs and commenting!

Tuesday: Top Ten Tuesday

Wednesday: Waiting on Wednesday

Sunday: Quote of the Week

Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be free-days – I’ll post either book discussions, tags, DIYs or Beyond the Book etc.  Also I’ll try to post at least one book discussion per week.

*Hogwarts Express*

A glimpse of my school life:

This year, I’m a fifth year student and I’ll sit for my OWLs. (This year, I’m a secondary 4 student and I’ll sit for my IGCSEs.) For those who’ve read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, you’ll know how busy the fifth year students are. It’s the same in real life. There’ll be tons of extra lessons and tons of past paper and tons of homework and tons of tests blah blah blah. BUT, being who I am, I will (try) not to be stressed and I’ll read. As much as I can. To those who’s at school/just started school: good luck!

Blogging and reading are my hobbies, and I should not be stressed doing them. I should be relaxed 🙂 Anyway, this school year will be challenging and I’m up for it. Bring it on and let the feast begin!
