Waiting on Wednesday: Firefight by Brandon Sanderson

October was a busy month for me. School was suspended in the first week due to the Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong (not complaining though). Then, my school had functions, so I had no lessons for almost two weeks. After that I was welcomed back to normal school life by two weeks packed with tests – these are the reasons why I haven’t been reading and blogging much.
On the bright side, my English writing skills have improved! (Thanks to book blogging)
I’ve started web developing and programming (more details here).  By the way, I’m so glad that the weather is getting cooler 🙂 Autumn is finally here yay

Happy Halloween! Lately I’ve been enjoying this game:
Eyes – the horror game
To be honest, the game is not too scary as you’ll be given a warning before you run into the ghost-like vampire creature (usually). However if you have bad luck like me and run into it when you push open the door, then… safety is not guaranteed.

Waiting on Wednesday: Firefight by Brandon Sanderson

My ‘waiting on’ pick this week is:

Book Title: Firefight

Author: Brandon Sanderson

Publication Date: 6/1/2015

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Words of Radiance, coauthor of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series, and creator of the internationally bestselling Mistborn Trilogy, Brandon Sanderson presents the second book in the Reckoners series: Firefight, the sequel to the #1 bestseller Steelheart.
They told David it was impossible—that even the Reckoners had never killed a High Epic. Yet, Steelheart—invincible, immortal, unconquerable—is dead. And he died by David’s hand.
Eliminating Steelheart was supposed to make life more simple. Instead, it only made David realize he has questions. Big ones. And there’s no one in Newcago who can give him the answers he needs.
Babylon Restored, the old borough of Manhattan, has possibilities, though. Ruled by the mysterious High Epic, Regalia, David is sure Babylon Restored will lead him to what he needs to find. And while entering another city oppressed by a High Epic despot is a gamble, David’s willing to risk it. Because killing Steelheart left a hole in David’s heart. A hole where his thirst for vengeance once lived. Somehow, he filled that hole with another Epic—Firefight. And he’s willing to go on a quest darker, and more dangerous even, than the fight against Steelheart to find her, and to get his answers.

Beyond the Book: Why do books smell good? (and Book Perfume)

Bibliosmia – The act of smelling books

My old copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone smells SO GOOD. I just can’t help but sniff it every time I pick it up :P. Books smelling is my guilty pleasure and it’s also one of the reasons why physical books are preferred by many readers. However, have you ever wonder what causes the smell of books?

( I know ^ THAT^ looks kind of intimidating. If you are interested, you can click here and read the full text.)

For those who prefer video:

You love the aroma so much that you want to wear it? Here! 😀

Now you’ll smell like one. P-E-R-F-E-C-T.

Got a Kindle and you miss the smell (aka me)? Get this!

I was casually scrolling through my Tumblr dashboard when I saw this info graphic and so, I decided to write about books aroma. I knew that there’s a perfume that smells like books, but an aerosol e-book enhancer? Never heard of that. It’s ‘the accidental discovery’ in the process of researching (lol). Still, a ‘real’ book is irreplaceable. No matter how technology evolves, traditional ways/things still have their advantages and value.

I had a great time understanding the causes of the aroma of books and I hope you do too! Thank you for stopping by and I’ll see you in my next post 🙂

I’m in! Scrolling through my home page, I realised that I’ve posted way too many memes. They made me feel isolated as I don’t get to talk to you guys, (and you know, I need quite a lot of time to put together some book discussions), so I decided to join the #BookBlogWriMo!

Below is the schedule:

I’m super excited for this! Can’t wait to get started 😉

When a violent blast strikes the moons of Cancer, sending its ocean planet off-kilter and killing thousands of citizens—including its beloved Guardian—Rho is more surprised than anyone when she is named the House’s new leader. But, a true Cancrian who loves her home fiercely and will protect her people no matter what, Rho accepts.

Then, when more Houses fall victim to freak weather catastrophes, Rho starts seeing a pattern in the stars. She suspects Ophiuchus—the exiled 13th Guardian of Zodiac legend—has returned to exact his revenge across the Galaxy. Now Rho—along with Hysan Dax, a young envoy from House Libra, and Mathias, her guide and a member of her Royal Guard—must travel through the Zodiac to warn the other Guardians.

But who will believe anything this young novice says? Whom can Rho trust in a universe defined by differences? And how can she convince twelve worlds to unite as one Zodiac?
